Opportunity

Chief Advisor to a world’s foremost young activist (named “Principal”) Principal is launching a new Executive Office to strengthen and expand her global advocacy platform and reach. The Principal’s new, dedicated team will leverage the power of her unique voice with diverse coalitions of young people, fellow activists, religious leaders, policymakers and public and private sector experts to raise awareness and influence change in areas that Principal cares deeply about. Essential for the success of this new, exciting initiative is the role of Principal’s Chief Advisor to serve as her closest adviser and public-facing representative. The Chief Advisor will lead Principal’s Executive Office within the International NGO Fund, develop and drive Principal’s advocacy strategy and policy work to raise Principal’s profile as a thought and practice leader as an education and human rights activist. This position will set the strategic priorities and oversee the implementation steps necessary to set vision into practice. The position will also work in close collaboration with leadership at the International NGO Fund, a girls’ education charity that Principal co-founded. The International NGO Fund works with education activists in 10+ countries, providing them with grant funding and other programmatic support. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, strategic and globally networked figure with significant experience in diplomacy, foreign policy, global institutions or politics. They are knowledgeable about womens’ rights and/or education issues and they are well-connected to key networks in these circles. They are a tactful and unintimidated diplomat with a deep commitment to human rights and the creation of a better world. Objectives

  • PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Strengthen Principal’s capacity to engage key actors through advocacy and other engagements: ● Act as a thought partner to the Principal on her vision and lead in the implementation of her advocacy objectives. ● Provide strategic guidance on advocacy, campaigning and communications plans in coordination with the Principal’s personal team and the International NGO Fund’s Executive Leadership team. ● Establish a system for relevant stakeholders to engage with the Principal, helping her prioritise her focus and time and advance her advocacy objectives. ● Inform and manage a comprehensive and forward-looking calendar for the Principal that strategically serves her advocacy objectives. ● Manage a small team within the Executive Office to support the Principal’s communications, high-level advocacy relationships, and special projects as necessary. ● Streamline communications between the Executive Office and the International NGO Fund, supporting Principal-led priorities within the International NGO Fund as necessary. 2. Raise Principal’s profile as a thought and practice leader: ● Prepare and accompany the Principal to meetings with Heads of State and other leaders. ● With colleagues, support the Principal’s correspondence and respond to invitations and high-level requests on her behalf. ● Design and support high-level participation during key global events, including the UN General Assembly, G7 and G20, as well as regional and national forums. ● Draft talking points, op-eds, quotes, speeches and other communication for the Principal. ● Develop and facilitate a strategic advisory council. ● Oversee the Principal’s philanthropic interests and a grants budget within the International NGO Fund. 3. Drive Principal’s public policy positions and strategy for specific initiatives: ● Engage influential actors, multi-stakeholder initiatives, industry associations, and organisations to advance the Principal’s advocacy work and build support for her public policy positions. ● In collaboration with the International NGO Fund’s Director of Government Relations, identify and cultivate strategic relationships with an array of government officials and public and private sector experts to further the Principal`s long-term goals. ● Provide analysis on emergent crises, current events and relevant stakeholders’ positions related to the Principal’s advocacy areas; develop relevant messaging and response plans.
